The foodie culture in East London is forever evolving, with a plethora of bars and eateries opening around every corner, there is always something new and exciting to get your chops round on the east side of town. We’ve rounded up some of the best and most highly-anticipated new openings of the summer, so make some room and put your eating pants on because things are about to get tasty.
The Frog Hoxton
Shifting from Old Truman Brewery to Hoxton Square, British Chef and Restaurateur Adam Handling is taking over the old Byron site to make way for The Frog Hoxton. For an extra bit of oomph, there won’t just be a fresh and new restaurant there, there will also be two additional watering holes; a Bean and Wheat Café and Iron Stag. Each venue will have its own separate entrance and will be opening up for business on 24th July.
In keeping with the modern day consumer’s environmental requirements, The Bean and Wheat will practice a zero-waste policy – you could even bag yourself a free coffee every time you bring your empty beer bottles back! In the new bar, there will be alcoholic concoctions aplenty with whisky bottles as old as 40 years on the shelves.
This three-in-one restaurant bonanza will leave you wanting more, especially because there will always be something new to try!
Beautiful Allotment, Shoreditch
Enter the beautiful grounds of the Geffrye museum this summer to experience the tranquil garden pop-up from the brains behind Bourne and Hollingsworth. Beautiful Allotment will be complete with vegetable patches, a BBQ, day beds and a cocktail bars – the making of a cracking afternoon if you ask me.
All the beverages on the cocktail menu will be made up of only fresh and quality ingredients straight from the grounds, there will even be people there who can serve you your tipples on wheelbarrows, talk about being at one with nature! In addition to the fresh, local and exquisitely delicious food and drinks, live music and a variety of workshops will also be part of the parcel when visiting Geffrye Museum’s Beautiful Allotment.
Kick-starting on 25th July, get social this summer and dive into the botanical beauty of this serene pop-up. Why not reserve a private greenhouse while you’re there and spend some quality with your friends and family.
Chiringuito
Who would have thought that the public toilets in Bethnal Green would have been transformed into one of its hottest new foodie hotspots? This July, Chiringuito is going to bring some island vibes to East London, with a rooftop bar overlooking the park and some serious Spanish flavour.
Marco Padilla is going to be the man behind the more-ish menu with some Peruvian and Latin-inspired dishes; think swordfish tacos, yuca chips and pork belly in pisco and beer sauce, excuse me while I drool…
Just a hop, a skip and a jump away from Bethnal Green station, this new eatery will be sure to wink at you when you are on your way home from the station.
