Pancake Day in Shoreditch

Food and Drink

It’s the event that we all most look forward to after Christmas…you guessed it, Shrove Tuesday, otherwise known as Pancake Day. Whether you are a savoury snacker or have a sweet tooth, East London has got many delicious and entertaining crêpe happenings that will get you ready to take on Lent.

The Great Spitalfields Pancake Race

Forget having lunch at your desk on Tuesday 13th February, because starting at 12:30pm at the Old Truman Brewery you can get the chance to take part in the annual Great Spitalfields Pancake Race. All you need to do is get together a team of four worthy participants and get your fancy dress threads on. Each team will complete a relay race which will involve flipping, frying pans and of course, each contestant will be provided with pancakes!

What’s the prize, you may ask? Well, the winning team will be rewarded with an engraved frying pan which you can proudly use for all of your pancake flipping needs for the Shrove Tuesdays ahead.

Espresso Martini Pancakes at The Book Club

We all love espresso martinis (well, I do) and we all love pancakes, so imagine what it would be like to have a combination of the two. Well, this Shrove Tuesday, you don’t need to imagine because Shoreditch’s The Book Club is bringing you Espresso Martini Pancakes exclusively for Tuesday 13th February.

Picture this: ‘Fluffy American pancakes sandwiched together and Kahlua cream, doused in a rich chocolate, espresso and vodka sauce and finished with a topping of more Kahlua cream.’ I’ve gained about five pounds by just reading that description but it would be rude not to give it a go, especially because they are only being offered for just one day!

Unlimited Pancakes at Boondocks

What could be better than pancakes? I’ll give you one answer…unlimited pancakes. And that is exactly what Boondocks on City Road in Old Street is offering up next Tuesday. Tickets are being sold at £12.50, which is a pretty sweet deal if you ask me, especially because you will also be entitled to a complimentary cocktail or mocktail on the side.

With an incredibly mouth-watering array of toppings available, you really can’t go wrong. We’re talking Wild Blueberry and Banana Caramel Nut. Get your tickets here – go on, you know it makes sense…
