Fortnum and Mason Comes to the City

Lifestyle

One of London’s prized locations for tourists, shoppers and afternoon tea-lovers is coming to The Royal Exchange in Bank! City-dwellers will no longer need to trek to Mayfair to get their Fortnum and Mason fill because as of October this year, this City-bound department store will open its doors for business.

This new flagship branch will span an impressive 2,368 sq.ft. and will comprise everything you would expect, including a dining/bar area, retail space and a sumptuous confectionary counter, set to be the second biggest store, next to its Piccadilly sibling. CEO of Fortnum and Mason, Ewan Venters, is more than excited at the prospect of this grand opening; ‘Fortnum’s at The Royal Exchange is the manifestation of our message that London remains open, and that the world’s most important financial centre in the City remains vibrant…The Royal Exchange provides not only an important postcode location, but a culturally important environment bringing together two brands with a shared history in trade.’

With a history dating back to as early as 1707, it is encouraging to see that Londoners are still on the Afternoon Tea bandwagon and will continue to be for the foreseeable future!
